dc.description.abstract	A prototype graphical modeling system, AREMOS (A Refinery Modeling System), has been developed for modeling the production in a petroleum refinery as a linear program within the scope of this study. AREMOS is an object oriented modeling system which provides a visual interactive environment for refinery modeling. Its aim is to support the management of a refinery in deciding .the optimum production policy through a friendly user interface, which guides the user throughout the decision making process, and virtually eliminates the need formathematieal programming expertise.
