During the past 15 years, significant development has taken place in the techniques of tieback wall. Anchored wall has gained world-wide acceptance in both theory and practice due to its economy, technical and practical advantages. Since in the densely populated metropolitan cities the value of land is a major cost issue in building construction, high-rise buildings with several basements that require deep excavations are being constructed. Improving the stability of such deep excavations is provided successfully by anchored walls. In this thesis, tieback walls used as a retaining system for the excavation of HEMA Industry Co. building are examined by Finite Element Method using PLAXIS program. PLAXIS is used in this thesis to model the behavior of the tieback wall for the purpose of determining soil parameters to get similar lateral displacement as inclinometer reading at final excavation depth, earth pressures generated behind the wall, and changes in anchor loads. The analysis is carried out by staged construction and changes in anchor forces at each stage are obtained. In addition, anchor forces obtained by PLAXIS and that calculated by Project firm, ZETAŞ A.Ş., are compared. Obtained soil parameters, E and φ, by which similar lateral displacements as inclinometer readings at final excavation depth are obtained by PLAXIS are much less compared to the parameters in literature survey.
