Abstract

Heegard Floer homology is a topological invariant for closed 3-manifolds equipped with a spinc-structure. Construction of Heegard Floer homology in the case when first Betti number is 0 is explained. The tools required in the construction are pseudo holomorphic disks, symmetric product space, Chern class, Maslov index, and spinc-structures. These tools are studied.
